Are you Pregnant?
What should you do when you find out you are pregnant?
Pregnancy can bring many feelings — whether it’s planned or not.
You, your partner, and your family might feel happy, excited, worried, or unsure.
Our aim is to ensure you are well-supported and free to voice your thoughts without judgement.
It's important to register with your maternity team as early as possible to get the correct antenatal (pregnancy) care started. This will help you to:
Plan your care
Learn about your options
Decide what support you might need
Receive all of the information you need to have a healthy pregnancy.
You do not need to tell a GP you're pregnant unless you're taking medicine or have a long-term health condition. If you're registered with a GP, they'll be told about your pregnancy after your first midwife appointment.
If you live in Shropshire or Telford and Wrekin, you can self-refer to the maternity team using the BadgerNet system.
Alternatively you can call 01743 261085 to register
All of your choices and information will stay confidential — even if you’re under 16.
Below we have included some useful guides we hope will help you during your pregnancy journey.

Strategies and Policies
Local Maternity and Neonatal Systems (LMNS) have been set up nationally in response to NHS England’s ‘Better Births’ report which sets out a vision for safer, more personalised maternity care that reflects women’s choices and offers continuing joined-up care.
Who we are
Your Local Maternity & Neonatal System (LMNS) team ensures everyone is working in collaboration to improve Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin’s Maternity Services and support people who are on or beginning their pregnancy and newborn journey.
Support during and after your pregnancy
It’s important you feel comfortable and you have all the right information you need for a healthy pregnancy, safe labour and support afterwards.
