If you are over 16 weeks pregnant and have any of the below symptoms, or have any other concerns, please contact Maternity Triage on 01952 565948:

  • A change in your baby’s movements

  • Contractions

  • You think your water may have broken

  • Any vaginal bleeding

  • Abdominal pain

  • Severe headache or blurred vision

  • Sudden swelling

  • Itching hands or feet

  • High temperature

  • Any other concerns

The service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All calls to Maternity Triage are recorded for training and quality purposes.

The Triage service can also be accessed for mothers for the first 28 days after childbirth. If you have any concerns about your baby/babies’ welfare, please contact 111 for advice or attend A&E.

Should you have any concerns before you are 16 weeks pregnant then the Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS) is there to support you.

EPAS is a referral-based clinic. Referrals are accepted by GPs, midwives, the Emergency Department or Gynaecology team including fertility. Reasons to be referred to an early pregnancy unit commonly include:

  • Pain,

  • Bleeding,

  • Abrupt early loss of pregnancy symptoms

If you are currently pregnant under 16 weeks and you have symptoms of early pregnancy complications such as pain or bleeding, please contact your GP during daytime hours. Alternatively, you can call and speak to NHS 111 or speak to your midwife if you have already booked your pregnancy.

If you have heavy vaginal bleeding or severe pain, you should attend your local emergency department 24 hours a day.

Are you pregnant?

Whether planned or unplanned, pregnancy can bring on a range of emotions for you, your partner and your family.

Strategies and Policies

Local Maternity and Neonatal Systems (LMNS) have been set up nationally in response to NHS England’s ‘Better Births’ report which sets out a vision for safer, more personalised maternity care that reflects women’s choices and offers continuing joined-up care.

Support during and after your pregnancy

It’s important you feel comfortable and you have all the right information you need for a healthy pregnancy, safe labour and support afterwards.
